Men’s & Ladies’ Leagues
Men’s & Ladies’ League competitions are graded competitions from Grade 1 to Grade 7. Teams may enter in any grade, but may be re-graded by the Grading Committee. Entry fees are €20 per team. Each team plays one Home and one Away match against each team entered in their League, or Section where the League is divided. Matches are arranged by the Club Secretaries at the fixtures meeting before commencement of the league and are generally played in the evenings (although afternoon fixtures can be arranged by mutual agreement if necessary).
Teams consist of either four men or four ladies respectively. Each match consists of four doubles games where each player has two games. A pair may not play together any more than one game in each match e.g. Game 1 is Players 1 & 2, Game 2 is Players 3 & 4, Game 3 is Players 1 & 3, Game 4 is Players 2 & 4. The team must be played to strength i.e. the partnership in Game 1 should be stronger than in Game 2 and the partnership in Game 3 should be stronger than in Game 4.
A point is awarded for the winning of each game in the four game match and this goes towards your team’s standing in the league or section which can be followed online via tournament software. Depending on the number of teams in the section or competition, finals and/or semi-finals will be played in a neutral venue.

Mixed League
Mixed League competitions are graded competitions from Grade 1 to Grade 7. Teams may enter in any grade, but may be re-graded by the Grading Committee. Entry fees are €40 per team (Grades 1-6) or €20 per team (Grade 7). Each team plays one Home and one Away match against each team entered in their League, or Section where the League is divided. Matches are arranged by the Club Secretaries at the fixtures meeting before commencement of the league and are generally played in the evenings starting no later than 8pm (although afternoon & later evening fixtures can be arranged by mutual agreement if necessary).
Teams in Grades 1-6 consist of eight players; four men & four ladies. Each match consists of 2 ladies’ doubles, two men’s doubles and four mixed doubles and the team must be played in order of strength. Teams in Grade 7 consist of four players; two men & two ladies. Each match consists of 1 ladies’ doubles, 1 men’s doubles and 2 mixed doubles and the team must be played in order of strength
A point is awarded for the winning of each game in the eight game (Grades 1-6) or four game (Grade 7) match and this goes towards your team’s standing in the league or section which can be followed online via tournament software. Depending on the number of teams in the section or competition, finals and/or semi-finals will be played in a neutral venue. For more information on rules & regulations, click here.
Knock-Out Cup
Knock-Out Cup competitions follow the same format as the mixed league in terms of team composition and matches. Entry fees are €20 per team (Grades 1-6) or €10 per team (Grade 7). Teams may enter in any grade, but may be re-graded by the Grading Committee. All Knock-Out Cups are open draw competitions.
Knock-Out Cups are handicapped, if needed, at the discretion of the grading committee. Team composition and performance of the teams in a grade is taken into account and “stronger” teams may be given a minus starting number to afford teams a more equal chance (something similar to a golfing handicap!).
Teams having priority in the “Order of Draw” for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th rounds have home advantage, i.e. each team is given a number and whichever number comes up first of any matches being played has a home venue. Finals are played in neutral venues. For more information on rules & regulations, click here.
